- Our Frames

We only use sustainably harvested materials, impregnated with linseed oil and finally treated with marine quality Carnauba wax.

CapeFarewell
Cape Farewell kayaks evolved for all year kayak hunting in some of the most extreme paddling conditions in the world, at the South-western tip of Greenland. The style here focuses on big seas and high winds rather than speed, as this is the only ice free region in winter.

Our
CapeFarewell is a full volume frame suited to longer trips, with good bow lift on windy and choppy days. With its typical Greenland style low profile it is well suited to playful paddling in demanding conditions. Merge it with our Avataq deck bags and you raise the profile to a full volume touring boat

EastGreenlander

When the inhabitants of South East Greenland migrated to the west of the Cape in the 1850's, they brought an older style kayak with them, one which was primarily used during the calm ice free months of the year. This was a fast, narrow and low profile kayak that immediately influenced the Cape Farewell kayaks with its elegant sharpness.

Nowadays, the EastGreenlander is having a bit of a renaissance with paddlers around the world favouring speed and playful character over volume for touring. We've compromized a little on narrowness, giving you 50 cm inside-width in the cockpit, while keeping it light at approx. 14 kg with the BareBasics skin design.

Size available in 2012: 558,5 x 55 x 27 cm

- SealSkin AD2010 and deck solutions

The kayak frame evolved for 4000 years - and it is meant to flex (if ever so gently). To allow this, while still being super strong for the modern paddler, we developed our very own high tech skin based on three different fibres: Cotton and Cordura on the surface and the world's strongest fibre at the core - Dyneema® ("fourteen times stronger than steel"*).

We call the new skin - SealSkin AD2010. The Dyneema fibre is woven in a complete, tight weave, not only as rip-stop. We finally protect the skin with our own KayakCoat™ silicone with a complete saturation before adding extra layers inside and out. The result is a UV protected, super strong skin that resists all common oils and organic matters you can expect in a marine environment. Do hit the link to Dyneema's site and learn about this incredibly strong fibre.

The hatches either conceal a TiZip® at bow and stern - or a roll-down closure, while attention was also paid to the back strap, seating pad and the Avataq™ deck bags. We're also re-introducing an ancient solution in Greenlandic kayaks, the paddle arrest on the aft  deck, used in aided re-entry.

Our BareBasics
skin layout is just that, nothing beyond the bare necessity. A small roll-down hatch fore and aft, the Sululik cockpit hatch, basic toggles, deck lines aft and a tie-in. No graphics, no decoration, white only. You can however, customize at will, our distributors have the details!
